Senior Scientist, Ctr for Rehabilitation Sciences Research, Uniformed Services Uv of Health Sciences

Directed program addressing barriers to social reintegration among military patients with acquired traumatic amputation as well as neuropsychiatric injury, managing $1.3M five-year budget and 9 research assistants.


Developed global service design framework for supporting positive clinical outcomes in rehabilitation programs.


Conducted several 100 interviews of ethnographic research to develop actionable research results for designing programs, services, and products to assist with community living.


Mentored FDA sponsored research project evaluating potential risks and rewards associated with biotechnology among potential users of sensory feedback prosthetic devices.

Principal Investigator, Congressional Directed Medical Research Program, Spinal Cord Injury

Conducted 15 months of ethnographic research – in homes, clinics, and community settings – among former patients with spinal cord injury as well as possible neuropsychiatric injury.


Identified critical barriers to community living and participated in improving programs, services, and products to assist with community living.

Conducted 24 months of ethnographic research among hospital-based recovery of military patients with acquired traumatic limb loss.


Developed design principles for programs and services to smooth transition between Department of Defense based care and care housed in the Department of Veterans Affairs.
